"The garments and sculptures made here at Glenfiddich reflect first person, three-dimensional journal accounts- my witness to the colors, patterns, textures, stories, and thoughts here in Dufftown."

Mark Steel Wool Salinas (b. 1973) is a Fashion Designer who currently lives and works in New York City. He completed a BFA in Sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis, an AAS in Fashion Studies from Parsons School of Design in New York City, and additional courses in Tailoring from Central St. Martins in London.

His interdisciplinary design aesthetic draws from 12 successful years in the Fashion, Film, and Fine Art industry prior to the launch of his own label, Arrows Up, in 2007. His market reflects a cross-pollination within the Arts & Entertainment industry and speaks to his ability in offering highly specialized creative services for runway, storefront, stage, and pedestal. Past clients include Chanel, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer, Zac Posen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Mari Kimura, and the Liberty Hall Museum.

Salinas' proposal for the AIR program was to create a couture hunting costume inspired by the lush terrain of the Glenfiddich and its regional folklore. In this effort, he is seeking to develop multi-layered references to the organic vs. inorganic, safety vs. danger, and ultimately how fashion can be worn to blend in with others or to stand out in a crowd (camouflage vs. exposure).
