Seasons Greetings

5 January 2012

This month has given me a much lighter, more local travel schedule. On the 5th, I visited Paris for a reveal of the Glenfiddich 50 Year Old at the George V Hotel for media. This included a tasting of the 21, 30 and 40 Year Old before unveiling a bottle of Glenfiddich 50 Year Old for the hotel bar, which will sell at approximately 1000 euros per glass.

The colour of the 50 Year Old Glenfiddich is pale gold, most people think the older a whisky the darker the colour, but this isn’t the case.  This whisky spends 50 years maturing in oak casks and the finish is exceptionally long with a touch of dry oak and the merest trace of peat.  It’s an astonishing taste and in my opinion is worth every penny.

On the 19th and 20th I returned to Dubai to run a full-on master class for the resident malt whisky club in Dubai. It was a great night and we had an audience of almost 60 guests!

I’ll be wrapping up the month with Christmas and New Year celebrations, all with a dram of Glenfiddich to celebrate of course. I hope you all enjoy the festive period and have a happy New Year!
