Sun’s creative forms are diverse, including painting, literature, and film. She excels at observing with a delicate perspective and describing and interpreting in a unique way. Through the writing and painting, she opens up new possibilities for imagining reality.
She majored in art creation during her undergraduate and graduate studies, with a focus on ink painting and calligraphy. In 2005, she entered the media industry and served as the editor-in-chief and art critic for several major art magazines in Taiwan. In 2016, her solo book Through the Looking Glass: Life Experiences and Artistic Practices of 37 Taiwanese Contemporary Artists received the Taiwan Ministry of Culture’s Emerging Artist First-Time Creation Grant. The book, which took seven years to complete, consists of personal writings based on interviews with important contemporary Taiwanese artists.
In 2020, Sun ventured into the field of film production, creating a series of documentary films on artists. Her work has been nominated three times for the Excellence in Journalism Awards, considered the highest honor in Taiwan's media industry. In 2024, her work In Search of a Homeland: Hsu Yu-jen was nominated for the Golden Bell Award for Best Director, the highest honor for television documentaries in Taiwan.
