Based in NYC for the past 13 years, Matthew Sandager was born and raised in Minnesota. He received his undergraduate degree in studio arts from the University of Minnesota and his Masters Degree of Fine Arts in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. A photographer, film maker and illustrator his work has been exhibited in gallery shows in New York and around the United States. He photographs portraits, interiors, fashion, landscape and the crossover between them all. His most recent series of photographs, entitled Memorial Days, include images of historical re-enactments, living history museums, the participants and the tourist public interacting at these interstitial moments to history yet where the history does not really matter. His commercial work has appeared in Details Magazine, Womens Wear Daily, New York Times T Style Magazine and L’Uomo Vogue (among other places). His latest series of short films premiered in Provincetown, Massachusetts in the summer of 2009.
