Catching up with friends

3 September 2012

I recently caught up with an old friend and very important whisky connoisseur, Mahesh Patel.

It is fair to say that Mahesh’s great passion in life is whisky. A successful commercial real estate developer in Atlanta, Georgia, he is best known in whisky circles as the founder of the Universal Whisky Experience. An event for whisky aficionados, connoisseurs, and collectors, it is a great opportunity to attend master classes taught by brand leaders and sample some of the finest whisky from around the world.

I remember having many conversations with Don about wood and its importance in relation to the quality of whisky.

This included a tasting of the 21, 30 and 40 Year Old before unveiling a bottle of Glenfiddich 50 Year Old for the hotel bar, which will sell at approximately 1000 euros per glass.
